Here is a solution to the financial problems being encountered by Nevada, if only the state of Nevada would act on it. I had
sent out a proposal to Congressman Reid, Governor Gibbons, Commissioner Reid, the mayors of Las Vegas and Reno, some of
the state leaders, Tad Dunbar and to a major Las Vegas newspaper. No one was interested in discussing it with me; guess it is
another example of our elected leaders reacting instead of acting to a problem. Maybe they should start to think outside of
the box for a change. This can and will work with a little effort of our elected officials!
First, a little bit of background …
What I propose is this – The state of Nevada sets up an online casino for poker games. Deposits can only be made in person at
a land casino in Nevada and with drawls can only be made in person at the casino that the deposit was made at. These casinos
are paid a fee for the deposit withdraw (paid for by the player) while the current federal laws are in place and will earn a life
time commission of the earnings by the poker site that the player contributes to based on their online play.
A review of one of the largest poker sites active on the net showed that earnings can easily be in the area of
$600,000,000.00 to over 1Billion dollars a year! I arrived at this by taking screen shots over a period of weeks of
tournaments and tables, showing the entry fees and average ‘rakes’ from game, then working the figures for averages,
expanded it out over 360 days to arrive at what can be expected for a year’s worth of earnings.
Once, and if, the laws change to allow for online poker playing, the casinos will still make money by allowing players to sign up
under their symbol on the Nevada poker site.
Immediate benefits to the state:
1. For now, people would have to travel into the state to place their deposits and to get their pay outs.
2. For now – casinos would earn money by taking the deposits and providing the payout. Earnings proposed would be $10 for
a deposit and 5% plus $10 for the pay out.
3. Along with the deposit and pay out fees, casinos would earn 10% of the lifetime earnings that the Nevada site makes
off of the fees that the player pays to play.
4. In the future, when deposits are allowed to be made online, the casinos will still make money from the lifetime fees
that the player pays, increasing the fee to the casinos to 25% if they help with advertising and tournaments (explained at a
later time) or 10% if they just allow their icon to be used for player sign ups.
5. Just in online tournament fees and rakes, the state can make over $600,000,000 a year within 3 years. With my add on
ideas, a total of over 1 Billion Dollars can be coming into the state yearly!
Basically, the State of Nevada should be setting itself up for online poker. They could then expand to a major tournament that
will bring people into the state, regional tournaments that will bring people into the casinos and hotels, and even include casinos
outside of the state that would be part of the program, because this will increase the fees that the state will earn. If anyone
in the State Government wants the spread sheets and information that I used, feel free to write me for more information.
The state could easily make over 200 million the first year, and be bringing in over $1,000,000,000.00 by year three.
What is more important – allowing Harrah’s and other corporations to make their profits or allowing small casinos and business
along with the people of the state to be allowed the benefits that this will bring? Especially if money earned from this venture
is used strictly for programs such as schools, health programs, libraries, day care, road improvement, etc.
